Drawing on his background as a commercial illustrator, Andy Warhol redefined high art by depicting everyday objects, public icons, and memorable events in his oeuvre, quickly becoming a leading figure of Pop Art. Warhol also changed the way of producing art, using a blend of photographic silkscreen printing and hand painting. This method allowed him to create repeated images of the same motif. Driven by celebrity, Warhol cultivated a public and glamorous image. He kickstarted the celebrity culture we know today impacting other artists’ desire for commercial success.
